Halloween is a great time to go wild and crazy with your nail designs! This gorgeous vamp nail design was created by my nail tech Blanca at M3H Nail Salon. She used Essie Licorice ($8, as the base color. It’s a creamy black polish and was the perfect background color for this mani. Next she used red glitter polish. You can make your own with red chunky glitter and clear nail polish. She then used red, black, and white nail art polish to draw the super cute vamp lips! I vote this my best manicure of the year! So in love with my nails, I can’t look away!

Side note – I used my friend’s Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat ($9.99, and I am officially hooked! I love this stuff! I nails dried sooo fast, I was able to reach into my wallet without smudging my nails. I definitely must get a bottle for my self, I’m too busy to sit around waiting for my nails to dry!

Halloween Nail Designs From the Past

Gypsy Corset Nail Design

First a clear top coat was applied, then China Glaze Twenty-Four K ($7, was applied in a v-shape tip. Black nail art polish was then used to create the laces. They also look like ballerina shoes, right?

Swashbuckler Mani

Essie A List ($8, was used as the base color and then black nail art polish was used to create the slashes at the bottom.

Ahh beautiful flawless skin, we all dream of it – don’t we? We spend tons of time and money trying to get that perfect pore-less complexion. But sometimes, even with the best fool-proof regime; we still get that occasional breakout. Skin is unpredictable, and largely non-cooperative, and when it’s good it’s great but when it’s not? You dread leaving the house! And we always seem to get the worst pimple ever when we have important things to do – like an interview or the first day of school!

So I’m super excited that the writers behind the new eBook ACNE: A comprehensive guide on identifying, treating and generally showing blemishes who the boss is saw this blog, and recognized that my readers – you  – are exactly the kind of women who understand what it is to not only look their best, but also feel their best.

The writers asked me to ask you to get involved. They are working with the doctors from Court House Clinics to assemble a free online eBook that covers the biology behind why we get spots and acne, how to control it, things we think we know about skin but might have actually gotten wrong, and  – this is why I want to get involved – how to feel good about the skin you’ve got.

So, what do you want to know about skin? Maybe:

What’s the difference between a spot and acne?

Does eating chocolate really make you break out?

I get acne on my shoulders and chest, how can I fix it?

I’ve always had perfect skin, but then I got pregnant. What happened?

Whatever your thoughts, questions, or ideas, stick ‘em in the comments box (or email me directly) and I’ll send them over to the writers, who will ask the experts, who will give intelligent answers and help everybody involved (yay free advice!) Once the ebook comes out, I’ll have a bunch of copies to give out (yay freebies!)

Scented Lavender Vanilla Moisturizing Bath Salts $16 This stuff smells amazing. This is by far my favorite scent in the collection. The Lavender Vanilla fragrance is soothing and relaxing. This transformed my normal boring bath into amazing aromatherapy oasis. These bath salts are all-natural and sulfate-free. It’s made up of six skin nourishing ingredients – Dead Sea salts, sweet almond oil, jojoba oil, glycerin, fragrance oils, and vitamin E. The icing on top are the added vanilla beans that linger as you soak.

Scented Peppermint Cafe Body Polish $18  I used this while enjoying my much needed bath. This added to my spa like experience. This all natural sugar scrub contains skin saviors like shea butter (one of my fav ingredients!) and coconut oil. The peppermint cafe scent reminds me of a peppermint patty. The scent is invigorating and energizing. The body polish actually contains bits of coffee in it – amazing! It did wonders for my legs. This time of year my skin always gets drier, this scrub really helped slough of my dead skin cells and left my legs and arms smoother and hydrated.

Coconut Lime Verbana Body Crème $18 After my luxurious bath, I applied this body creme for an extra kick of hydration. The scent is a well balanced combo of both creamy coconut and refreshing lime. It’s a very thick cream, it’ feels more like a body butter. I loved it It’s also contains shea butter, coconut oil, and coconut butter.

It’s week three of The Skin Regime: Boot Camp for Beautiful Skin Challenge and I already see results. My skin is much smoother and  even-toned. For my third peel I decided to do another 50% glycolic acid. I prepped my skin as I normally do and this time I made sure to apply to medicated spray properly. I sprayed it directly onto my skin and waited about a minute until it dried completely. I was able to feel the numbing sensation from the spray, especially above my lip.

During the six minutes, the skin under my eyes and on my cheekbones showed the most irritation. My skin was red afterwards and slightly itchy. The next day I woke up with a small scab on my right cheekbone. At least I know it’s working! Bye-bye sunspots!

Next week I’m taking a break because I have an event to attend and I don’t want to go with red flakey skin! I’ve  upped my moisturization to three times a day and I have been using a BB cream  instead of regular foundation.

My skin really started to peel on the third day. To remove the flakes, I made sure to wash my face with my washcloth using a gentle circular motion. I noticed I shed a lot more skin this time around. I’m excited to see more results!

So here goes, week 2 of The Skin Regime: Boot Camp For Beautiful Skin Challenge. I started off with a 30% glycolic peel, but this week I decided to up it up a notch and do a 50% glycolic peel. Yikes! I’ll admit, I was a little scared to try a stronger formulation – but I know I needed to in order to see results.

I prepped my skin the same way as I did before. You can read about my first peel here and read my interview with the author here.

Since this peel would be stronger, I added an extra step to my prep. After prepping my skin with the alcohol, I sprayed Harmon First Aid Medicated Spray ($4.49, on a cotton round and applied it to my face. Benzocaine is the active ingredient that helps numb the skin.

Next, I swiped the 50% glycolic acid with a cotton round all over my face, neck, under eye and left it on for six minutes.

This peel burned more than the first  and I’m so glad I used the spray. I experienced a burning and tingling sensation and this time around it was more intense. I was still able to handle it, it was not as bad as I thought it would be. No telling if the benzocaine really helped or not, but I think it did.

After rinsing my face and applying my moisturizer I noticed reddish patches on my face. This time the tingling/ irritation lasted longer. I applied it about one hour before heading to bed and my face was still itchy by bedtime.

The next morning, I had red spots on my cheekbones and forehead. The itching was gone and my cheeks were slightly sensitive. By midday my chin had started peeling and I had applied moisturizer at least twice by then. I’ve noticed that the solution is most active on my trouble spots which is a huge plus for me. I’m excited to see this working, can’t wait for next week’s peel!

The new James Bond Movie – SKYFALL has been all over the media lately. October 5th was dubbed James Bond Day, so it was only fitting to release Adele’s latest single from the movie and the new James Bond 007 cologne for men. My favorite 007 launch was the new OPI SKYFALL Collection. It’s sexy and mysterious just like the Bond Girls. The collection is divided into two main groups – The Seductive Shades and The Dangerous Shades. The Bondettes Kit came loaded with two shades from each side. Let’s Review, shall we!

OPI GoldenEye is a sparkly glitter gold nail color. It took three coats to achieve this level of opaqueness. It’s very similar to the MAC Marilyn Monroe Rich, Rich, Rich polish.

OPI The Spy Who Loved Me is a romantic red. It has a little bit of glitter in it that adds a hint of sparkle. The formula is great, the first coat glides on smoothly and is very bright.

OPI The World Is Not Enough – a gorgeous rosy silver shade. Gunmetal meets mauve with a dose of glitter. It took three coats to get it to look this rich.

OPI Live and Let Die is the color of Bond’s private jet! It’s a dark shimmery black-green color. This shade is similar to Essie’s Stylenomics – but with added specs of glitter.

GoldenEye and The Spy Who Loved Me are both part of The Seductive Shades and The World Is Not Enough and Live and Let Die are both members of The Dangerous Shades.

Can’t wait to see SKYFALL, it hits theaters November 9th!
