It’s fall fashion made for your nails – Essie’s fall 2013 collection has got it all for you this season. Her latest collection is a mix of glossy shades and metallic dual shades.
For the Twill of it is my favorite shade from the collection. I thought I should start with my favorite first this time. It’s a metallic dual tone of magenta and gun-metal. I love the way it reflects in the light, changing from one shade to the other. At times you can even get a glimpse of a greenish metallic tone as well.
Vested Interest is some what of a murky green color. It reminds me of floral – you know that green cube at the bottom of a flower bouquet vase. It’s also slightly reminiscent of OPI’s You Don’t Know Jacques with a little bit of olive mixed in.
The Lace is On - a lovely metallic magenta shade. It goes on smooth and evenly. I noticed that the metallic shades were easier to apply that the glossy polishes.
Cashmere Bathrobe is one of the darker shades in the fall collection. It has a glossy finish with a faint metallic shimmer. It’s like a darker version of Vested Interest.

Well I suppose cold weather is creeping up on us again -_-
I get excited about fall fashion, but not about the temperature dropping. Oh Summer, why must you leave us so quickly! As the days get shorter, some beauty brands are well into their fall product launches. My nail salon has stocked up its fall collection and this week I decided to try OPI Keeping Suzy at Bay from their San Francisco collection.
Keeping Suzy at Bay is a glossy deep ink blue – it’s like a pen exploded on my nails! I wasn’t ready to rock a dark burgundy yet – just like we don’t wear white after labor day, I don’t wear burgundy shades before it! This blue works for an end-of-summer-look because even though it’s a dark color, it still has a pop of brightness. It reminds me of a beautiful summertime night sky. Great color, can’t wait to try more from this whopping 15-shade collection.

Soooo it’s Shark Week and America has gone shark crazy! It’s been an absolute frenzy of sharks on TV and on the web! I’ve caught a few episodes myself so I thought I’d join in on the fun with a shark week inspired post! Inspired by seaside beauty – Chanetecaille Save the Sharks Palette features three eye shadows and a blush shade. Each shade is embossed with a cute little shark fin with a fun name to match!
- Great White – an all over white sandy beige
- Grey Reef – a glistening sandy grey
- Black Tip – a deep ocean blue
- Sea Anemone – a golden coral
5% of proceeds from the Save the Sharks Palette will be donated to the BLOOM Association to ban unregulated shark fin trade. Available at chanetecaille.com and nordstrom.com $83 (Photo courtesy of Discovery and Chanetecaille)
This year’s summer collection from essie is a mix of creamy and shimmery shades. It’s nautical inspiration transcends through the color choices and adorable polish names. I’m loving almost all of these shades – the green shade; however, it a miss for me! Sorry essie!
Full Steam Ahead is a pearlescent punch lilac and it’s my absolute favorite shade from this collection. I typically go for pinks over purples, but this shade takes the crown. It is so lush, but yet so muted. You can totally get away with is shade at the office, but it’s still fun and not boring.
Sunday Funday – the name says it all! It’s a tangerine coral crush with a slight shimmer. Perfect for summer fun filled weekends.
The More the Merrier – my least favorite color in the collection. It’s a juicy lime green creamy shade. It would look pretty as an accent color when paired with Sunday Funday or Naughty Nautical; but solo, I think it looks to harsh. I’m not a huge fan of the name either. It makes me think of Christmas and winter, the total opposite of summer.

I know I’ve been posting a lot of nail polish reviews lately, but I just couldn’t end the week with out sharing my Easter nail art manicure
Deborah Lippmann’s Staccato polish in Rockin’ Robin is a must for Easter this year. The black glitter within the mint nail polish makes your nails look just like robin eggs – I’m really loving this effect!
I had to add a little bling to my ring fingers so I chose Essie Bond Over Whomever, from their Spring 2013 collection, as the base color. This Essie lacquer is a lovely pastel but yet vibrant lilac color.
Then my manicurist (I’m gonna start calling her my nail artist!) used pink, teal, and yellow nail art polish to make the lines and zigzags. She then sealed it with a layer of Nicole by OPI Inner Sparkle. The result – a gorgeous little glitter egg!
My list of favorite manicures just keeps getting bigger! Happy Easter!!

What better way to show your sweetheart how much you love them than with a gift of beauty. This year a whole bunch of brands launched Valentine’s love inspired gifts ranging from eye shadow palettes to fragrance sets. Here are my top picks:
Currently one of the most popular fragrances, this is sure to put a smile on her face! Features notes of bergamot, tea, freesia, jasmine, orange blossom, orchid, rose and patchouli. Set includes: Flowerbomb Bomblicious Body Crème (1.3 oz.), Flowerbomb Eau de Parfum Spray (1.7 oz.), Flowerbomb Bomblicious Shower Gel (1.7 oz.).
Smashbox got it right with this palette. First of all – it’s just so pretty to look at! The neutral colors blend together so effortlessly and these eyeshadow glide on so smoothly and evenly.
This dual sculpting blush add the perfect touch of color for the ultimate romantic makeup look. It’s designed to work well with all skin colors – Coral Effect adds a pop of bright color and Urban Ballet helps soften it so it looks radiant and natural.
This set offer a sheer tint of color for lips and cheeks. Use them separately or blend them together for a customize look. Set includes: Saint Pinky Nude Lipstick, a romantic natural pink shade (.12 oz.), Oxymoron Honest Politician Lip Gloss, a natural shade (.28 oz.), Butterfly Ball Lipstick in Smitten, a sheer shade with a hint of turquoise – that make teeth appear whiter (.134 oz.).
The perfect gift box filled with Valentine’s Day inspired goodies. The set includes: Vanilla Cream Topping Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath (4 oz.), Vanilla Cream Topping Body Lotion (2 oz.), Cherry On Top High Gloss High Flavor Lip Shine (.5 oz.)
A little something for him:
The man in you life deserves some V-Day gift giving love too – it’s not all about the ladies you know! But in all honesty, this gift pleases both. I went out last weekend and I wanted a sexy manicure to match my LBD. I had recently seen a pic posted by Kim K. on Instagram of a black on black manicure. I liked the idea of back on black matte – but I wasn’t so thrilled about the french tip design.
I picked out China Glaze Black Diamond – a gunmetal black and paired it with a matte effect top coat. My manicurist created designs using black and silver nail art polish. I am in LOVE – I have not stopped looking at my nails. My nails look soo fierce – like a manicure Beyoncé would choose!

Essie knows we are all on a budget! The new Fall collection is inspired by our current economy. In this new economy, fashionistas everywhere are coping with the challenge of maintaining a trendy wardrobe. How do we ever do it, it’s almost near impossible!
Essie Miss Fancy Pants is a fabulous griege color. It’s similar to Essie Yogaga and it’s a great color for the fall/summer transition. You know when dark colors kind of feel too dark because days still hit 80 degrees – but bright colors feel too bright. Creamy gray, beige, and tan nail polishes help fill in that gap of color uncertainty.
Essie Recessionista is a beautiful deep raspberry red. I think this color is so pretty, it’s rich and juicy at the same time. I love the name too!
Essie Head Mistress is a bold dark red. It’s a simple basic red nail polish. No big deal here!
Essie Skirting the Issue is a burgundy red. I had trouble getting this polish to go on evenly. The manicure looks blotchy and uneven. Not a fan of this formula!
Essie Stylenomics is a rich like money – a deep dark green. This color is so unexpected and I love it! It’s a bold statement for your nails. As you can see, this polish is super glossy and shiny. Definitely a great shade for fall.
