Juicing – some people do it for weight loss, others do it to help lower cholesterol, but what about juicing for your skin? I always like to start off the year with a juice cleanse. Last year I tried the Dr. Oz 3 Day Cleanse. The plan was doable, but there were only three recipes to choose from and I didn’t love them all.
This year, I decided to try the Reboot with Joe 3 Day Quick Start Plan. The plan has tons of different juice recipes that incorporate fruits and vegetables. You start your day off with a lemon water liver cleanse and drink five juices a day, as well as coconut water and herbal teas. By far this has been the plan with the best recipes. Since I loved them so much, I decided to share some of the best wrinkle fighting, skin brightening recipes from the plan and few I created on my own!
- 2 Apples
- 2 Cucumbers
- 6-8 Kale leaves
- 4 Carrots
- 2 Apples or 2 Oranges or 1 Mango
- 1/2 of a small Watermelon
- 2 Pears
- 4 Strawberries
So how is this good for your skin? Well for starters all of these fresh fruits and veggies have tons of good-for-your-skin vitamins.
Let’s start with kale; dubbed the Queen of Greens by WebMD, it’s a mega house of goodness. Kale has a high concentration of vitamins A, C and K. Vitamin A has been shown to help fight wrinkles and acne. Vitamin C helps brighten the skin and fight free radicals. Vitamin K helps shrink capillaries which causes the appearance of under eye circles and varicose veins.
Cucumbers have been used in beauty treatments for ages. Like kale, cucumbers also contain vitamin C and K. It has magnesium too, magnesium and vitamin C both work together to promote the production of collagen.
Carrots are packed with vitamin A and beta-carotene. Our bodies actually convert beta-carotene into vitamin A, so carrots essentially pack a double dose of this stuff! Carotenoids also helps reduce skin’s sensitivity to UV rays.
Mangoes and watermelons both contain vitamins A, C, and E. Vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps fight free radicals that can cause aging. It also helps improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
There you have it, juicing is rich in essential vitamins that are both good for your body, and good for your skin.
I decided to give Aveeno’s Positively Ageless line a try, so I picked up the Youth Perfecting Moisturizer SPF 30 and Resurfacing Scrub. I love them both. The moisturizer is thick, but it didn’t feel heavy on my skin. It melted right in. The scrub was nice too – very gentle with a nice fragrance. The moisturizer has a light fragrance too, but the scent doesn’t linger on your skin. Thanks Aveeno!

Lately I’ve been oding on pumpkin! I mean it’s been pumpkin coffee, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin pie, pumpkin this and pumpkin that! If it comes in pumpkin flavor, I’m ordering it! So naturally, after seeing this news report about all the different pumpkin facials spas are offering, I decided I wanted to try a pumpkin facial right now!
Then I thought, how could I make a homemade version? And that’s when I went to my pantry and started mixing up a recipe! Pumpkin spa day here I come!
I mixed some Libby’s pumpkin puree (about 1/8 cup) with 1 tablespoon of sugar and a pinch of cinnamon. You could also go the super old fashioned way and boil down pumpkin and water to create your own puree. The pumpkin alone has tons of benefits for your skin. It’s loaded with vitamins A, C, and E, which have been proven to improve the appearance of skin. Pumpkins also have carotenoids that help fight free radicals and wrinkles. Cinnamon helps plump your skin and gets rid of acne by bringing blood and oxygen to the surface of your skin. Sugar, of course, is a great natural exfoliator.
After exfoliating my skin, I applied a pumpkin face mask. I used equal parts pumpkin puree and facial moisturizer. I worked it in and soaked up all the vitamins for about 20 minutes. I rinsed and re applied moisturizer. My skin felt great afterwards and it gave me a nice glow! Now I’m off to go get me a pumpkin latte, I just can’t get enough!
Happy Thanksgiving Beauties! Gobble Gobble!

This is the ultimate gentle cleanser. It’s pH balanced, so it doesn’t strip your skin of its natural oils. It’s clear and fragrance free, and also has anti-aging properties , because it’s formulated with Green Tea and Cucumber which are both anti-inflammatory. It also contains Resveratrol to help fight off free-radicals. It easily removes makeup and impurities, leaving your skin in the perfect condition to apply the anti aging cream.
I love the applicator cooling tip. It glides on smoothly while cooling and applying the eye cream evenly. This white fragrance free cream targets under eye wrinkles and bags. The cooling tip helps ward off puffiness and reduces tugging around the under eye area. It’s formulated with Vitamin C Ester, DMAE, and Retinol to aid in its anti-aging properties.
This treatment is lightweight, fragrance free and hypoallergenic. It has a yellowish tint to it with a powdery finish. It leaves your skin like a perfect blank canvas for your makeup application. It can be used all over – under eye, lips, neck and even your décolleté. Ingredients include, Clinical-strength DMAE, Retinol and Vitamin C Ester, CoQ10, and Shea Butter. These ingredients work together to hydrate, build collagen to firm and sculpt your skin. Click here to learn more about these ingredients.
I enjoyed using this trio to combat the signs of aging. Since I’m still in my twenties, I have minimal signs of aging and I contribute that to starting a skin routine early on in life; however, I really enjoyed the quality of these products – especially the cleanser! I like to use it with my Clarisonic from time to time. All three products contain ingredients proven to improve the look and feel of your skin.

I love my IT Cosmetics Power Brow Pencil, so I was trilled to try their latest CC Cream! CC cream is the next best thing after BB Cream. The double C stands for color correcting, it helps reduce the appearance of redness in your skin. It’s also a beauty product multi-tasker, similar to it’s predecessor the BB cream, but with more refined ingredients.
Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream will leave you with beautifully smooth, even-toned skin. It’s innovative formula contains vitamins A, B, C, and E, Hylauronic Acid, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Peptides, Algae, and Aloe just to name a few. (Click here for an in-depth explanation of these ingredients and their benefits.) It’s basically a suped-up Anti-Aging Hydrating foundation topped off with SPF 50+ Broad Spectrum UVA/UVB Sunscreen. You couldn’t ask for more in a CC cream. It’s also clinically proven to increase hydration in your skin by over 79% – I don’t know about you, but winter is coming and my skin is going to need this extra hydration.
It comes packaged in a pump tube, so you could pump out small amounts as you go. It’s a thick cream that’s highly pigmented and offers full coverage. You could wear it alone or under another foundation. I recommend using it alone and with your favorite powder. It’s easy to blend and glides smoothly across your skin. It has a very faint light refreshing scent, but it’s not noticeable at all. It comes in 5 shades; Fair, Light, Medium, Tan, Rich. I have swatched Light and Tan for you below. This is quickly becoming my go to favorite, I like to use the lighter shade as a last minute lazy day concealer and I apply the tan shade all over.
IT Cosmetics has expanded tremendously since it’s first appearance on QVC back in September 2010. This month the brand is slated to enter 306 Ulta stores across the nation and has plans to roll out chain wide in 2014.

5. ReVive Intensite Volumizing Serum
The World’s most expensive anti aging moisturizer will set you back $600 an ounce! RéVive Intensité Volumizing Serum is designed to erase wrinkles by plumping skin cells. During clinical studies; the key ingredient keratinocyte growth factor, when applied topically has shown to heal second-degree burns faster. The reason RéVive Intensité Volumizing Serum is so expensive is because it’s extremely difficult to produce. One pure gram of it is worth around $4 million, making it one of the most expensive substances on earth!
4. La Prairie White Caviar Illuminating Facial
Weighing in at $1,000 is the La Prairie White Caviar Illuminating Facial offered at The Beverley Hills Hotel. This facial illuminates and rejuvenates your complexion. Along with your luxe facial, you get a Cellular 3-Minute Peel, hand and foot treatment, and Caviar Intensive Eye Lift Treatment. You also get three full sized system products to use at home.
3. Hotel Victor’s Evian Bath
Is it your dream to soak in expensive French mineral water? Yeah – I didn’t think so! But if you have an extra $5,000 lying around, after you booked a $6k per night penthouse at Hotel Victor in SOBE, then I have just the thing for you! The team at Spa V will fill a 350 gallon infinity tub with fresh Evian water to help “revitalize your skin and purify your senses”. 2. Winks London Massage
Winks offers out-call massage services. Their most expensive massage will cost you £725 /$1222 USD. Their masseuses are trained in tantric massages and other types of massage styles. Massages are typically 60 to 120 minutes long. Winks is perceived as a gentlemen’s massage service, but women can also enjoy the benefits!
1. Azature’s Black Diamond Manicure
With a mind-blowing price tag of $250,00, Azature’s Black Diamond Manicure breaks the record of world’s most expensive beauty treatment. During the 2012 Emmy’s, Kelly Osbourne adorned her fingertips with the black diamond laced polish. There was a lot of backlash about the absurdly priced mani – most people in America don’t make nearly that much in one year!
So there you have it folks – some of the world’s most expensive beauty treats. All insanely priced and unattainable for most. If I were to ever splurge on one super expensive beauty treatment; it would have to be The Grand Luxe Facial. It starts off with a diamond peel, followed by a caviar mask, and finished off with LED light therapy. Three hours and $750 later you’re left with glowing blackhead and fine-line free skin! Ah one day, one day! What would you indulge in?

This year I think I might indulge in an oxygen facial or maybe even a lymphatic massage. Oxygen facials are supposed to do wonders for your skin – just the wake up call my face needs after this long and cold winter season. A lymphatic massage is a technique used to drain your lymph nodes. This helps the body get rid of unwanted toxins and excess fluid.
