Bobbi Brown has finally announced the launch of their new BB cream. It’s about time BB had a BB cream, it’s so fitting! Bobbi Brown’s BB Cream SPF 35 promises to be the all in-one beauty product we’ve been waiting for. It’s designed to moisturize, control oil, even out skin tone, and even combats wrinkles. It’s loaded with antioxidants and leaves your skin looking radiant. It comes in 5 shades and is easy to use, wear it alone or under your foundation for a super polished look.
Today is going to be one of the hottest days the tri-state area has seen so far this year. On super hot days, I like to keep my makeup to the bare minimum. But sometimes the day calls for a full face of makeup, so here are my tips for a melt proof look that will keep you looking beautiful during a heat wave!
Prime. Before you apply your foundation, you should first apply a primer. A primer works like spackle, it fills in any skin “imperfections” you may have. This leaves your skin smooth, even, and ready for your foundation. Look for a primer with shine control and that’s oil-free. I like Avon Magix Face Perfector and Smashbox Photo Finish Primer.
Foundation. Choose an oil-free mattifying foundation. These foundations help keep shine at bay and don’t clog pores. Try Mac Matchmaster Foundation or bareMinerals Matte Foundation. They both contain SPF, which is absolutely necessary in this type of weather.
Set. After applying your foundation, set it with a powder. The powder will set your look and keep your foundation in place. You could also blend in some bronzer to contour your face. The bronzer will give your face a healthy glow, which can help tone down the matte look. I like to set my makeup with bareMinerals Mineral Veil, I also like Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Loose Powder.
Extra Touches. Use a water proof mascara and eyeliner. Stay away from cream eye shadows! Bring your powder and/or blotting papers with you for touch ups. Bobbi Brown makes a good long wear eyeliner.
This is by far one of the best drugstore brand foundations. It offers good medium to full coverage and stays put throughout the day. Revlon ColorStay comes in two different formulas; combination/oily skin and normal/dry skin. I use the combination/oily skin formula in Golden Caramel during the summer. Even though I apply SPF every day, I still get darker during the summer. Golden Caramel blends away seamlessly with my golden summer complexion. It gives my skin a natural finish, so I don’t look completely made-up during the summer. Like most liquid foundations, you will need to blot or powder you face to keep shine completely at bay. I love this product and I also enjoy their New Complexion Compact; however, I don’t know why the darker shades don’t contain SPF. Golden Caramel, Toast, Rich Ginger, Caramel, Cappuccino, Mahogany, and Mocha do not contain SPF. Darker skin tones are not immune to dangerous UV rays and skin cancer, protection from the sun is also needed here! I make sure to apply either a moisturizer or a primer that contains SPF underneath.
I recently switched over to MAC Matchmaster SPF 15 Foundation and I really like it. It features new foundation technology that uses translucent pigments. These pigments create a custom finish according to your skin’s unique undertone and helps reduce the appearance of lines. It offers a moisturizing buildable medium coverage with a demi-matte finish. This means your makeup won’t looked caked on and you won’t be a victim of “5′oclock shine”.
The formula is thick and not runny like other liquid foundations. It does not apply thick on the face, because it has medium coverage. I chose to try this foundation because it helps keep shine at bay. As the weather gets warmer, my face gets shinier! So I wanted to find something that would help me fight that battle! It reminds me of cream-to-powder compact foundations, it is like an updated version of those.
At first I was matched with shade 4, the next day I applied it to my entire face and I immediately noticed it was too light for me. I won’t complain too much because their mistake gave me an extra swatch color! The following day, I went back and they matched me with shade 5. I found my perfect match!
Matchmaster comes in a 1.2 oz. pump bottle . It can be applied it with a foundation brush or simply with your fingers. Use the MAC Brush Finder tool if you need help choosing your brush. I generally use two pumps and set it with my bare minerals veil. $33
